JOHN KERR, SR (ALEXANDER, ALEXANDER, ARCHIBALD, HENRY) was born 29 Jan 1754 in North Carolina, Hanover Co, and died 22 Feb 1816 in North Carolina, Caswell Co., Yanceyville. He married MARY GRAVES Abt. 1773 in North Carolina, daughter of JOHN GRAVES and ISABELLA LEA. She was born 03 Apr 1756 in North Carolina, Orange Co, and died 22 Feb 1831 in North Carolina, Caswell Co., Yanceyville.

He was the only son of his his parents. He married Mary Graves about 1773. John Kerr shared in the Graves estate as well as inheriting his father's lands. He probably lived southeast of his father between present Milesville and Stony Creek. In 1781 he purchased land grants on Stony Creek as well as Country Line. In 1808 John Kerr was listed on the rolls of Bush Arbor Babtist Church which had been founded by his brother-in-law the Rev. Barzillia Graves.
The Raliegh Register reported that John Kerr died in March of 1816 of the Prevailing disease.
