THOMAS A BLACK (JOHN C) was born 16 Sep 1814 in South Carolina, York Co, and died 28 Jan 1882 in Drew Co., Arkansas. He married NANCY GLADNEY Abt. 1843 in South Carolina, Fairfield Co, daughter of RICHARD GLADNEY and MARY BRUCE. She was born 30 Sep 1809 in South Carolina, Fairfield Co, and died 14 Sep 1888 in Drew Co., Arkansas.

Thomas is belived to be the son of John C Black. I also believe that when John Black moved to Alabama around 1852 that Thomas moved with them and when John died in 1854 that Thomas then moved his family to Arkansas.
Thomas enlisted in the Confederate Army on August 1, 1861 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He enlisted for the war but was discharched on June 17, 1862 in Corinth, Mississippi.
