JOHN AUSTIN, SR was born Abt. 1681 in Viginia, Brunswick Co, and died Abt. 1759 in Virginia, Halifax Co. He married (1) SOPONEY INDIAN SQUAW Abt. 1718. She was born Abt. 1680. He married (2) HANNAH LOVE 1731 in Virginia. She was born Abt. 1680, and died Bef. 1784 in Virginia.
On 4 September 1740 he requested that he be added to the tithables in Brunswick Co., Virginia. In 1844 he patented 203 acres in Brunswick Co on the north of Wards Fork.
In 1748 John recieved patented land of 1400 acres in Lunenburg Co including land where he lived on Ward Fork. Lunenburg Co was formed in 1748 from Brunswick Co.
The 1749 tax record of Lunenburg Co list John Austin with 2 tithes and Joseph Austin enumerated in his household. He was Constable of Lunenburg Co in 1749. His land in Lunenburg Co later became part of Halifax and Pennsylvania Co's.
By 1755 the land entries for John Austin totaled 3,500 acres. John wrote his will in 1758 and it was probated in 1760 naming his wife Hannah and son Richard as Executors. At writing of his will, his son joseph was not married. Son's named in the will were: John, Valentine, Stephen, Richard, and Joseph. Valentine was given 400 acres, Stephen 320 acres( next to Hankin's land) all in Halifax Co. Hannah got the Plantation in Halifax Co to go to Richard at her death.
