WILLIAM LEE BEDWELL (LEROY CALVIN, SQUIRE, JOHN, ROBERT, JAMES, ROBERT, ROBERT, THOMAS) was born 14 Jun 1869 in Cherokee Co, Alabama, and died 02 Oct 1946 in Cherokee Co., Alabama He married GERTRUDE CYNTHIA MARTIN 26 Dec 1895 in Cherokee Co, Alabama, daughter of JAMES MARTIN and MARY KIMBERLY. She was born 05 Apr 1878 in Georgia, and died 05 Jan 1940 in Cherokee Co., Alabama
According to some of William was deathly afraid of snakes, lizards and other small reptiles. This made for a good time when a few of his children would play practical jokes.
He always wore a handle bar mustache and overalls, he also wore a black hat with the wide brim all the way around.
Their home had a dog trot through the middle and was so well built that even after he died that there was not a rotten board on it. His brother Joseph hade the house torn down and the lumber was used to make a library for Joe's children.
Uncle June has memories of William having a large container of solid gold coins and every now and then he would dig the container up and they would sit on the floor and count the coins, making large stacks of them. After William died that was rumored to be brought back when Leroy C Bedwell returned from the Civil War.
